Sh Mohan Lal Gurjar S/o late Sh Daya Ram Gurjar Resident of,Jodhpur ,Rajasthan is a traditional and an extra ordinary master craft person in leather Mojari (Jutti) craft, who was awarded with state Award-2008 and National Merit Certificate in year 2011 for his outstanding craftsmanship.
He learned craftsmanship from her mother Smt. Chandra Gurja and chose this family work as a profession to earn livelihood. Since 300 hundred year his ancestors were making leather Mojari to fulfill the demand of Royal family and local market but due to lack of direct linkage to buyer to sell the artifacts, that’s why initially he was hardly capable to run his livelihood.
He started his journey with Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) 30 year back, initially he participated large no of marketing events organized by office throughout the country to sell his artifacts, and like this he understood the market trends, market strategy and feedback from customer to improve his design. Through this exposure he not only earned good profit but also explored his craftsmanship on new product. For this extra ordinary craftsmanship he was awarded with National Merit Certificate Award in 2011.
Since last three year he got all round support not only to sustain his craft based livelihood but also to conserve and preserve the craft.
Under HRD scheme (Guru Shishiya Parampara) of this office, he (Guru) trained fifteen young pupils (Shisya) to transfer his craftsmanship to young generation to adopt handicraft sector as a career.
Under Design & Technology Up-Gradation Scheme in a Integrated design & Technology Development Project he was engaged as a master craft person and products developed during this were displayed for testing at IHGF Noida fair, which attention of international buyers and got an order from Scotland and now with the help of nearby artisans he is able not only to fulfil the market demand but also playing the vital role in providing employment needy to artisans.
Under HRD,R&D and Comprehensive Handicraft Cluster Development schemes he got soft skill training on current market trends, design innovation, design forecasting, export procedure & documentation, e-marketing, and financial management etc from specialized faculties., These trainings has helped him to groom his business in systematic manner.
Under Comprehensive Handicraft Cluster Development scheme for Megacluster Jodhpur he participated in Buyer seller meets, Reverse Buyer Seller Meet, and an International fair at India Handicraft and Gift Fair Noida.
Under welfare scheme, (Aam Aadami Bima Yojana) he is insured and under Pahchan he got enrolled himself. Sh Gurjar with the assistance of Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) has explored the way to change the socio-economic scenario of his life by making himself as social entrepreneur by providing home based employmentto make many other women artisan.
